Host The Perfect Hang-Out With Verizon FiOS® #CustomTV

I am excited to be able to customize my TV package thanks to Verizon FiOS®, as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #CustomTV

We love Verzon FiOS®. We’ve had it since it’s been available on Long Island and haven’t changed since. That being said, sometimes all those cable channels can be more cumbersome than enjoyable. There are just so many channels on 24 hours a day that it can make a person’s head spin. Is it really necessary? Not likely. Is it necessary enough for me to pay all this money to have 100s of channels I literally never watch? Certain not. That’s why we are loving this new Verizon FiOS® Custom TV option Verizon is rolling out to it’s customers! Talk about being consumer-focused, this would be a prime example of that. Verizon FiOS® listened to what their customers had to say and delivered Custom TV–an industry first. Verizon is the only pay-TV provider to introduce tailored TV packages.

Just reminder if you didn’t read my first post about it…here’s how it works. It’s easy:

  1. Customers will select a package comprised of a Base package of 36 pre-selected channels, plus local broadcast channels, and at least two Channel Packs out of a choice of seven
  2. If a customer chooses a Base package plus two Channel Packs, the price is $54.99 (standalone).
  3. If the customer chooses to add additional channel packs beyond the first 2, they are just $10 each
  4. The categories for the Channel Packs are:
    • Kids
    • Pop Culture
    • Lifestyle
    • Entertainment
    • News & Info
    • Sports
    • Sports Plus

So, you get to customize your TV package to meet your needs. Why hasn’t someone thought of this before?? This is just a simple way to find the types of channels you want to watch, and pay for exactly that.

Ok, so if you’re like us, with the kids and their friends running amok on a daily basis, you pretty much have to have the Kids bundle…and it has all you need for kids of all ages. Here are the channels in the Kids bundle:

  • Nickelodeon
  • Disney Channel
  • Cartoon Network
  • Disney XD
  • Nick Jr., TV Land
  • TeenNick*
  • Nicktoons*, Disney Jr.*
  • Boomerang*, Sprout*
  • Discovery Family

Natalie and her friends are all about the tweeny-bopper shows on Nick like Henry Danger and Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn. Natalie and her friends can settle down and watch these for hours! It’s perfect for sleep-over time when the games are done and it’s getting to bed time!! But, it’s not only great for Natalie. This bundle is a also a must for Caleb (and me), what with all the SpongeBob, Bob the Builder, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thomas & Friends, and Team Umizoomi. Let me say it again…it’s a must if you have a 2 year old.

Now, if you have a boy about Liam’s age, and certainly older, that just can’t get enough of his sports (that’s my boy), then preserve everyone’s sanity…the Sports and Sports Plus bundles are no-brainers. Here are the awesome channels in the Sports bundle:

  • Fox Sports 1
  • ESPN U
  • Fox Sports 2*
  • Big Ten Network
  • Big Ten 1*, Big Ten 2*
  • SEC Network
  • SEC Network Overflow
  • Longhorn Network*

…and the Sports Plus†† bundle:

  • Regional Sports Networks
  • ESPN News
  • NBA TV
  • NFL Network
  • MLB Network
  • Golf Channel
  • NHL Network
  • One World Sports*
  • SEC Network
  • SEC Network Overflow*

Liam and his friends (and perhaps me and mine) love being able to check out all the games, no matter the sport. Check out the US Open on the Golf Network, get the latest scores from ESPN News, find out every little bit about the Giants on the NFL Network, and so on. You get the drift I think.

A perfect example the awesomeness of FiOS® Custom TV would be our night yesterday. We had some friends over just to hang. We ordered pizza (easy), put out some chips and dip (easy), and relaxed (easy). The kids played outside for most of the afternoon, as it was great weather outside. After dinner, it was time to chill a little bit. The kids were fighting over the remote since there was so much good stuff on…but in the end, everyone was happy. There was plenty to watch, and the channel selections were just about perfect. We went from SpongeBob on Nick to Funniest Pets and People on Discovery Family to flipping between all the Women’s World Cup matches on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2. It made it so easy!! Everyone enjoyed with some popcorn and then ice cream. Perfect, easy night on a summer, end of school year get together.

It’s also nice to know you’re paying only for the channels you actually care about and watch.
