There’s a really great, brand-new sword-sational Amazon Original Kids series I wanted to share with you. It’s called Niko and the Sword of Light and it will debut on Prime Video on THIS Friday, July 21!

The new Emmy-winning fantasy adventure series takes young viewers to a magical land where a lone champion battles the darkness with his magic sword and the guidance of a determined princess. Niko and the Sword of Light follows 10-year-old Niko, the last of his kind in a strange, fantastical world, as he embarks on an epic quest to defeat the darkness and bring the light back to his land. Armed with his magic sword, brave Niko journeys to the Cursed Volcano, making new friends and powerful foes along the way, all while uncovering secrets about his mysterious past.

Check out the sneak peek right here!

Let’s start with the most important part of this…all 3 of my kids loved this show. 100% was all about it. The adventures, the comedy, the cute and fun characters all worked really well for them and for me. It’s a varied type of show, with a little bit of everything for everyone. I also like that there’s people as well as animals and fantastical beasts. It reminds me of all the great mythology I used to read when I was a kid.

Another nice twist on the show is that Niko’s sword destroys the darkness and not the creature. Once the darkness is vanquished ,the creature returns to whatever animal it had been before it was overtaken with darkness. I think that’s pretty cool. It shows how people (and beasts) can turn from dark to light, just like in real life. People aren’t always bad or will no always do bad things. Good vs. bad and light vs. dark. I think that’s a pretty good lesson.

I also love the animation. It’s not too crazy and bright, like so much of the animated world seems to be today. It’s darker and a bit more restrained, but it’s really interesting and very appealing. It’s attractive to the kids and the adults, which is always a good thing.

So, Niko and the Sword of Light seems to really hit everything on my and my kid’s wish list. Great animation, awesome story, good lessons, and great characters that you love and want to follow. It’s a unique show that stands out from the crowd. While I can’t say that EVERYONE will love this show, I’m pretty certain that this show will really please just about everyone. It’s 5/5 in the Sweeney house, that’s for sure. It’s a great show and I am so happy that Amazon had the vision and insight to create it!!! This is really a wonderful show and one of the best I’ve seen in a long while. I would highly recommend checking it out with your family…or alone, that would work just as well.

Again, Niko and the Sword of Light will debut on Prime Video on THIS Friday, July 21! It’s worth becoming an Amazon Prime just to see this alone!! In the meantime, you can check out the first episode on Amazon and the trailer above.
