Talk About Giving Tuesday with Kids Then Give

Well, Black Friday is over and today is Cyber Monday. With all of that spending in the books, how about doing some good and thinking up some Giving Tuesday ideas!?! What is Giving Tuesday? I’d love to talk about that here and how important it is for you to speak to your children about it. I’d also love to talk about what T-Mobile is doing this Giving Tuesday.

What is Giving Tuesday

In short, Giving Tuesday refers to the Tuesday after U.S. Thanksgiving in the United States. This year, it’s December 3, 2019. It is a movement to create an international day of giving at the beginning of the Christmas and holiday season. It falls right after two of the biggest shopping days of the year, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I love the idea and I think the timing of the even couldn’t be better. But how can you do you part?

Giving Tuesday Ideas

Actions speak louder than words, so get out there and do anything and everything you can to help people in any small, medium, or large way you are able. It makes others feel good and it makes you feel good, too. While actions are important, it’s also important to explain the importance of Giving Tuesday to your children. Its important for them to understand that giving is good and that there are plenty of people and companies doing good to help others.

Once they understand what it’s all about and why we all need to take action, try to put together an idea for how your family will support Giving Tuesday and why. Will you and your family set-up a coat drive for families in need, volunteer at a local soup kitchen, help clean up your community or your school, make a donation to the charity of their choice, or donate a number of clothes or toys to local drives? How about all of the above? I know that whatever you can come up with, its a great thing for you and the kids. Just do it. Every little bit helps and not act of kindness or giving is too small.

Small Acts, Big Results from T-Mobile

As I said, small actions can really lead to big results. I have a really simple one for all the T-Mobile Customers out there like me! Save a Deal, Give a Meal. It’s so simple. Save any deal in the T-Mobile Tuesdays app on Giving Tuesday and T-Mobile will donate a meal to Feeding America. Yep, that’s it. Just save it and it’s done! Isn’t that fantastic? I love it.

If you aren’t lucky enough to be a T-Mobile customer yet, you can get in on the action, too. Just log on to Twitter and get to tweeting!! Every time anyone tweets the hashtag #GivingOnUs, T-Mobile will contribute 10 meals to Feeding America. So…you can really do some good when tapping away on Twitter. How amazing is that?? This is just awesome.

So, wouldn’t it be easy to show your kids what T-Mobile is doing and how they can help? I mean, they all have phones anyway!! They might as well make the best of it. Anyone who wants to help feed hungry families this holiday season, the ball is in your court!!

Why Feeding America

This holiday season, more than 37 million Americans will face hunger at home. My kids know of the problems and they really always are looking for ways to help. From donating money and food to giving something to a homeless person they meet, they know that this is unacceptable and much more can be done. I know it, too. That’s why it’s pretty amazing to see T-Mobile commit to the cause like they have. In total, via Twitter and the T-Mobile Tuesdays app, The Un-Carrier, T-Mobile will donate up to 5 million meals to Feeding America!

Feeding America operates a network of 200 food banks, which provide food and groceries to 60,000 food pantries, soup kitchens and emergency feeding sites around the U.S. Add the potential 5 million meals for Giving Tuesday to the 10 million meals donated through the Slow Cooker Sunday Cookbook campaign earlier this year and T-Mobile’s 2019 contribution to Feeding America will potentially total up to 15 million meals!

T-Mobile Employees Give Back

My kids know that people are generally good. And good people make up good companies. Big companies, for all the knocks they seem to take, do quite a lot of good. I’m sure to remind the kids of this whenever I can. Case in point, T-Mobile.

T-Mobile employees love to go the extra mile to give back to the communities they serve every day. This is just something that’s baked into the DNA of the company. And the company and it’s employees practice what they preach! In fact, the Un-Carrier is hosting up to 100 employee volunteer events with Feeding America-affiliated organizations across the country through the end of the year.

This really makes me feel good about being a loyal customer as well as a proud ambassador for the company!!!

The T-Mobile Foundation

T-Mobile isn’t even stopping at all of the above!!! To further employee support of the communities and organizations they’re most passionate about, the T-Mobile Foundation will deposit $25 into every employee’s Giving Account, which they can donate to the charity of their choice this holiday season. With 52,000 #TeamMagenta members across the U.S., that adds up to a potential $1.3 million of charitable giving! C’mon, you have to love this, right? It really shows a level of commitment to doing good that’s hard to not admire.

Find Out More

Being a T-Mobile Ambassador has helped me learn about different ways that T-Mobile helps to give back – and in this case – supporting Giving Tuesday. I’m just so grateful to play a small part in all of this, letting people know how they can give back, too! It’s really just an important part of being part of a family, in a community, or in a workplace. Let this Giving Tuesday get you going on the path to do a little more. It’s worth every minute.

Amazing! Giving Tuesday is so important – especially in this midst of so many “buy, buy, buy!” messages drying this busy holiday season. I just love how you and Vera always get the kids involved in giving back too. Wishing you and the family a beautiful Christmas!

I am a T-Mobile user and their “Save a Deal, Give a Mea” program could not be a better opportunity for giving Tuesday. It is nice that it involves kids which makes them think and be a better person.
