Sunny days make us want to enjoy fresh, fruity and friendly moments surrounded by friends and family and they make us lose track of the number of aperitifs, picnics, brunches and happy hours!!
No celebration or meal is complete without a glass of intriguing wine from Loire Valley. With five main regions divided into 61 distinct appellations, this region offers exceptional diversity, vibrant sparkling wines, layered reds, and everything in between. This generally cool, riverside region favors acidity over alcohol: From light bodied and aromatic whites to full bodied reds, wines from Loire Valley perfectly pair with any kind of meal!
The below infographic illustrates the food & wine pairings for the upcoming season!
About the Regions
The Loire Valley is referred to as the Garden of France. It is known for its magnificent chateaux and rich history. It runs at the heart of France with 5 distinct wine regions. They are Pays Nantais, Anjou, Saumur, Touraine, Centre-Loire. Each of these very distinct regions posses its own characteristics of grapes, appellations and styles.
The wine-growing regions dotting the Loire’s banks feature no less than 4,000 wineries, 170,000 acres of vineyards and 61 appellations of origin. Becuase of this, the Loire Valley is the third largest French winemaking region. The area produces 380 million bottles per year and exports 68 million bottles every year to 157 export markets.
The Loire Valley is France’s leading producer of white wines and ranks second for rosés. The region also produces wines of all kinds. Some of the styles and types include red, rosé, white, still, sparkling, dry, semi-dry, supple or sweet. Whew, that’s a mouth-full but so true.

I love this graphic. it’s a great quick reference guide. Wine is wonderful, but you really get the most out of it when you pair it correctly.
Oh man, I don’t drink any wine and know zero about it! That being said, this cheat sheet is totally perfect for me. I just need to memorize it and then see if those who know a lot about wine can see if I am legit or not – hahaha!
My sister would love this information because she is a wine drinker. It’s very informative, I didn’t even know some were fruity.
I seldom drink wine, however, now that I know how to pair a specific wine with a certain type of food, I might as well try some. Your infographic is a good resource. I will have to keep a copy of that!
