Balancing Work and House Duties

Isn’t it just the truth..there never seems to be enough time in a day.

Each day is such a blessing, but such a challenge balancing the household duties and the work duties.  The kids are only 6 and 4 and they are all over the place already!  School, daisies, gymnastics, baseball, basketball, religion class, play dates and on and on.   I know most of you out there know exactly what I’m referring to.  It’s all about trying to give your kids everything.  I get it.  But with all the comings and goings, I have to mix in my work duties.

I am home for the family but also to help run I’m Not Obsessed Media with my wife. Thankfully, we have a lot going on between all of our businesses.  But trying to balance working, conference calls, etc. with the kid shuttle just gets a but overwhelming at times.  I don’t know whether I’m coming or going and just when I get into a groove with work, it’s time to go do something.  Thank goodness for my Droid phone, I can get a nice amount done, but there’s still some things (like blog posting) that just has to be done at a desk, in front of a computer.  Conference calls are fine on the cell, but that, too, is obviously better on a land line at my desk.  Now that I’m really trying to get this site going, it’s even more of a challenge.  I want to update the site and make it the best it can be, but that takes thought and time, too.

I always try to make time for the kids, because that’s important, so work often gets pushed to the side.  I also don’t want to work too long at night, because that should be time spent with Vera, or with family and friends.

The constant pull in many directions is great and I’m never bored, but it gets very frustrating at times as well.  Does anyone else out there struggle with this?  Any thoughts?  Suggestions? I mean, I think I’m doing pretty well at it, but I am far from perfect…and know that I will never be.  But getting a little leg up here and there would make all the difference in the world.
