I like beer. I like all types. I like crafty beers, local beers, but I also like Bud Light Lime and other main stream beers. It depends on the day and the time, really, but I don not discriminate. There’s something to be said for all types of beers and all types of producers. Why limit yourself…you always will end up missing out.

Not sure if you know of Brewery Ommegang, but it’s a Belgian-Style brewery in update NY…Coopperstown, home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. It’s an awesome place, a Belgian wonderland. But the beers are really outstanding, one better than the next. Not sure when it happened, but Chimay actually bought the brand…so you know it’s pretty true to it’s roots and style.

This week I picked up a 4 pack of Witte bottles at my local Fairway….which has an amazing beer selection. I like trying to NY beers, support the locals. This was a great wheat beer. It’s not quite as thick and rich as some American or German wheats I’ve tried, so this must be the Belgian wheat style. It’s very crisp and refreshing, but still has that distinctive wheat flavor and feel. See the cloudiness and color…but there is also some light coming through and some more bubbles. Very unique I think.

It’s a great beer, perfect for the end of summer/early fall. Feel free to drop in some lemon, too…and make sure when you pour, you let that sucker settle first! Be patient, good things come to those who wait.

This is from the brewmaster himself:

Enjoy…let me know if you give it a try. I think you’ll agree that’s a good one. And try some of the other Ommegang beers. I haven’t really had a bad one yet. To find out more, visit Ommegang.com.
