Well, no, it’s not Brooklyn Foodies. It’s Burger King. Yes, the Home of the Whopper. They are apparently trying to go movin’ on up I guess in an effort to elevate itself against rival McD’s. They have apparently placed new and improved broilers that will allow for “gourmet” type cooking. “This new broiler is a game-changing piece of equipment and a significant point of differentiation for us,” said John Schaufelberger, Burger King’s senior vice president for global product marketing and innovation.”
The Steakhouse XT burger is a premium, 7 oz burger that’s 30% larger than the Angus Third Pounder at the Golden Arches. The Nation’s Restauarant News reports that “The Steakhouse XT is being offered at a promotional price of $3.99. Burger King is also offering an A.1. Steakhouse XT and a Smoky Cheddar Steakhouse XT, both priced at $4.49 each. Average prices for a basic Whopper are about $3.19. ”
What do you guys think? I know I love a good fast food, or any burger, but since I’ve been trying to be more healthy I just don’t do it all that much. I feel a little guilty. Man, if only a Whopper, White Castle Double Cheeseburger, or a Five Guys burger was low-fat like a rice cake. Why or why is it not??? I do like that these places are trying to step up the game and create a better, more refined product. You can make something great without being stuffy or high end (which I’m not opposed to either, by the way). I guess this is something I’d like to try since I do love the Whopper. Hope it lives up to the hype. Sadly, the vast majority of things do not.
