Thanksgiving seems like a distant memory and the hustle of Christmas is in the rearview mirror, too. The Holiday Season has come to an end yet again. What’s left, having an awesome party to say hello to a hopeful, happy, and healthy 2016.
As with any big life event, what better way to celebrate than to throw an untameable house party??? I don’t know about you, but when I check out sick parties and events, like these on BACARDÍ’s Instagram account, it gets me thinking big for my own parties!
Nice…how about some dope drinks and slick bartending? That really makes me want to throw an untameable house party!

I’d like to think I look very similar to him when I am mixing drinks at my parties. So, I think it’s pretty obvious to us all, to have the best parties, you have to have some great friends attend, you have to have some great music, some delicious food, and some fantastic drinks. Maybe first and foremost, you have to have some great drinks.
Since our holiday parties are over, and the eggnog has been drunk, maybe it’s time to start fresh. To go in a different direction. Vera and I have always loved a good mojito, and we love making it for our guests. Apparently, according to Google’s #yearinreview, the mojito was a top search!
To make the proper mojito, you have to take it seriously. Don’t mess around with shortcuts and inferior ingredients. Don’t you remember what your dad told you? If you are going to something, do it right or don’t do it at all. I’m not a quitter, so I will make the right mojito. And to make it unique, I’m going to make a perfect Mango Mojito with BACARDÍ of course, but with one slight change. I read a long time ago that the original mojito used confectioner’s (or powdered) sugar instead of granulated sugar. It sounds odd, but it melts perfectly into the drink and has a great, sweet taste. Sip this refreshing cocktail and enjoy the vibrant flavors of mint, lime and juicy mango.
The key to this, literally, is to use fresh lime juice and fresh mint. It’s not debatable, it makes all the difference in the world. Trust me, it’s well worth the effort.
- 2 oz BACARDÍ Mango Fusion Flavored Rum
- 4 lime wedges
- 12 fresh mint leaves
- 2 heaping teaspoons of confectioner’s (or powdered) sugar
- Club soda
- Sprig of fresh mint to garnish
- Gently press together the limes and sugar
- Bruise the mint leaves by clapping them between your palms, rub them on the rim of the glass and drop them in
- Next half fill the glass with crushed ice
- Add the BACARDÍ Mango Fusion rum and stir
- Top with crushed ice, a splash of soda and a sprig of mint
Give it a sip. C’mon, now. Don’t be shy. Let me know what you think. Awesome, right? Believe me, people will go nuts for this drink. It tastes amazing and will take them to a happy, maybe more “summery” place that will make the drink even better in the dead of winter in January. You’re serving it out big time, baby!
