Fratelli Rossetti x Leather Head Sports New Gear and NYC Event

Fratelli Rossetti opened the doors of its boutique on Madison Avenue for the New York stage of the New Artisan project and it’s a pretty awesome one. The US handmade brand Leather Head Sports took center stage May 9th in an evening event dedicated to craftsmanship. The shop windows of the Milan-based brand was filled with leather rugby, baseball, football and basketball balls, and the first Leather Head Sports football will be unveiled to mark the occasion.

Fratelli Rossetti is celebrating the New Artisan project and the event with its vintage-effect New York Special Edition men’s sneakers. Available in black or leather, they stand out as a result of their stitching inspired by sports accessories. Handmade in limited numbers, and on sale exclusively in the Madison Avenue boutique and in the online shop, the New York Special Edition is an essential purchase for those who want to make the most of the summer.

The New Artisan project, launched in 2016 in the boutique on Via Montenapoleone, offers opportunities to young entrepreneurs who have rediscovered the value of craftsmanship and made it their focus. Following its success last year, the project dedicated to new talent in the handmade sector is expanding beyond Milan to Fratelli Rossetti boutiques across the world.

The main theme for most of the 2017 events is sport, from cycling and skiing to surfing and tennis. This is in tribute to Fratelli Rossetti’s origins: Renzo Rossetti’s first moves in footwear involved creating technical shoes for various sports (cycling, hockey, boxing and skating). The cities with events planned for this year include Milan, New York, Venice, Brussels and Turin.

Fratelli Rossetti and Franciacorta have also renewed their partnership for 2017, working to support and promote Italian-made quality and excellence. A different type of Franciacorta will be available to taste at every New Artisan venue, with the style chosen to match the characteristics of the craftsmen and the host city. The Brut has been chosen for New York – a racy wine with good structure.

Father/Daughter Night with Meghan Trainor at her #UntouchableTour #WearWhatYouWant

I was lucky enough to have a wonderful father/daughter night at the famous Radio City Music Hall in NYC recently. Natalie and I had the chance to go all-VIP to a Meghan Trainor concert! Hello, Father of the Year, baby! Not only did we get to go early and watch the soundcheck, we also got to chat during a Q &A with the pop superstar! She was very engaging, open and sweet! Natalie was loving it all! After that, we actually got to meet her and take a pic!!! Natalie was practically FLOATING to our seats after all of this, completely start-struck  because she had all this special one-on-one time with one of her favorite singers!!! It was really awesome!! Can you see her joy?bill-megan-trainor-picmeghan-trainor-8

We were fortunate enough to be invited to the concert by the tour’s sponsors, Tampax® and Always®. Meghan Trainor is teaming up with The Radiant Collection, from Procter & Gamble’s (P&G) Tampax® and Always® during her “Untouchable Tour,” to encourage girls to have the confidence to wear what they want all month long. As a tour sponsor, The Radiant Collection will be onsite at 26 dates throughout the U.S. tour and online to give girls the chance to show off their Radiant styles, and demonstrate how confidence is key to feeling Radiant any day and every day. Here are some shots of the Tampax/Always area.

The New JCPenney Tapout Line Of Fitness Gear Is Slamming With WWE Superstars Dolph Ziggler and Charlotte In NYC #SummerSlam

JCP WWE Tapout Line Bill and Dolph and Charlotte

Do you love the WWE?? It’s a lot of fun, no doubt. I watched wrestling all the time when I was a kid. I loved it. Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Junkyard Dog, Andre the Giant, The Macho Man, Rowdy Roddy Piper…the list goes on and on. It’s just pure fun and it still is today. While it is pure fun, these men and women are sick, sick athletes. Super strong and agile, they would rock any number of sports if they decided to take it. So when you’re thinking about fitness gear, you know that a line that’s working with the WWE has to be ready for you to rock and roll with, right? When I had the chance to go to JCPenney and meet WWE Superstars Dolph Ziggler and Charlotte, you know I was ready to roll!

JCP WWE Tapout Line 3

I jumped on the Long Island Rail Road and made my way into New York City’s JCPenney location in the Manhattan Mall store. Doplh and Charlotte were on hand showing off the Tapout performance apparel line at JCPenney! The place was packed, with fans lined up for what seemed like miles just looking to meet up with the stars. The first 250 people received autographs, too, which had to make their week! The fans were really into it, chanting, singing, and having fun. It was a good time for all, including me.

JCP WWE Tapout Line 4

The beautifully fantastic wrestling star Charlotte loved being there, too:

“So excited to be at JCPenney Manhattan Mall today to meet all the fans and feature some of my favorite pieces from the Tapout women’s line. I love Tapout because its functional for my day-to-day routine yet has flair with bold colors and fun prints.”

JCP WWE Tapout Line 5 JCP WWE Tapout Line JCP WWE Tapout Line 2

The Tapout line at JCPenney is awesome for both men and, now, for women, including a range of training and compression tees, sports bras, tank tops, pants and shorts that retail for an amazingly affordable price range between $12.99 and $29.99!! The women’s line joins an existing men’s line, which features training and compression tees, tank tops, pants and shorts that retail between $12.99 and $32.99. The Tapout brand stands for motivation, discipline and determination, three core values that are key to an active lifestyle and this fresh gear really has the look you want matched up with all the form and function you need to get your workouts in and done the right way.

While I was there, I picked up a shirt and some shorts. Hey, with me joining the gym and taking up yoga recently, I need to gear up! Time to look good at the gym, baby!!

Eataly Downtown NYC At The World Trade Center Is Simply Stunning, True Italian Style

IMG_8180 IMG_8208

Do you like food? Do you like Italian culture. If the answer to either of these is no…are you really alive? I mean, really?

Anyway, a new fantasyland of such massive pleasures is ready to rock and roll in downtown NYC right in the heart of the rebirth of the World Trade Center. Eataly is opening up a second location in NYC and it is fantastic. In a lofty, light-filled perch on the third floor of the brand spanking new World Trade Center 4, Eataly Downtown NYC is a 40,000-square-foot place to eat, drink, shop and soak in all the Italian food and culture you could possibly enjoy in one place. It’s dope.

There’s just so much to see and experience. If you’ve been to the original Flatiron location, you are hit right away with the major difference…it’s more spread out and a lot brighter in feel. While the original is amazing, chaotic, very “Italian”, and pretty much started the NY (and nationwide) food hall craze when it opened in 2010, this location just feels good. It feels fresh. It feels different. That’s a good thing in this case, as it still lived up to the very high standards of the original.

Eataly Downtown NYC is set to open on August 11th. Thing everything top-notch wonderful. Super fresh, perfectly prepared, simple, and so Italian. It’s really one of my favorite spots anywhere, seriously. I don’t think you could have anything bad here, literally.

The best part, it opens TODAY!! August 11th!!!

Now, let’s take a look and see where all the magic happens:

IMG_8183 IMG_8213IMG_8295

An amazing bread section made fresh daily featuring a special yeast brought from Italy to NYC in 2010 for the Flatiron opening.  In addition to all the Italian breads made in house, Eataly will partner with a New York City bakery each month to showcase breads from all over.

IMG_8190 IMG_8191

La Pescheria

Massive fish! It was crazy. Super fresh, featuring sustainably sourced and local fish. They are trying to get to the point of tracking the traceability of each fish so they know where it was from, by who, and when. It’s an impressive goal.

IMG_8188 IMG_8189 IMG_8219

La Macelleria

The butcher is dope. Plain and simple. Ridiculous cuts of the best meats, all sourced by the legend himself, Pat LaFrieda. Sustainable, super fresh, top cuts from top purveyors.

IMG_8221 IMG_8289IMG_8187

Salumi e formaggi

The #1 counter at Eataly, this is the place for 200 pound provolones (no, literally), the best of Italian and American cured meats, and a cheese selection to make any cheese singles product lover take notice. The parmigiano reggiano is the tops, so sweet and nutty, it can’t be beat.

IMG_8242 IMG_8241 IMG_8243 IMG_8245 IMG_8244IMG_8248

Of course there’s pizza. Are you kidding? This is literally my favorite food in the world. It would be the thing I request for my last meal. This place does it right. Neapolitan style rocking out fresh pies in 90 seconds in a 900-degree wood burning oven straight from the mother land. It’s a golden oven because this is the gold-standard for pizza excellence. I mean, they let the dough cure for 36 hours to make it right. Sick.

Fresh Pasta

Where there’s pizza, there should be pasta. While the market has so much dried Italian pasta it will make your head spin, this is a nice thing to see and witness. All made fresh, right in front of your eyes.

IMG_8250 IMG_8252

The Prosciutto Truck

No, literally, it’s a tiny Euro-car stacked with prosciutto from three distinct regions, cut right there for you. It’s such a cool addition to the dining area…it just feels right. Plus…it’s awesome. So, you can’t beat that.

La Pasticceria

These Italian pastries are amazing. The selection is vast and the quality is top notch, from the tiramisu to the

IMG_8285 IMG_8209

Lavazza Cafe

What would an Italian experience be without coffee? How about some of Italy’s finest drawn by pro baristas? Great espresso, cappuccino, drip, and even a cacao/whip cream concoction that’s spot on.

Beautiful gelato complete with a Nutella-like fountain. Look away…

Produce, Juice Bar, and Vegetable Butcher

There’s a great produce market located right near the front, with all super fresh and local seasonal produce. They use their produce for juices and smoothies, too. They take it so seriously, that there is actually a vegetable butcher in-house to chop, peel, cut, and dice whatever you’d like however you’d like it.

La Gastronomia

This is a prepared foods section that knocks your socks off. Think olives, caviar, trulles, and other prepared foods based on the recipes of Joe Bastianich, Lidia Bastianich and Mario Batali.

Le Insalate

Eataly is all about simple, light, and healthy. What better way to show that to have a very clean and crisp salad station. NYers love salads, so Eataly is delivering it’s first salad bar, with a distinctive Italian spin on things, of course.

IMG_8297 IMG_8261 IMG_8260

La Piadina Romagnola

This is a stand worth visiting. It’s a simple yet elegant street food focused on grilled flatbreads. The sandwiches are light and very tasty. This shows Eataly’s focus on regional specialities and showing how the Italian culture is made up of so many small, regional, and even tiny village-based subcultures.

Want to learn how to cook like an Italian? This is the place…all with amazing views and wonderful teachers. This is a fantastic addition to the Eataly lineup. I can’t wait to sign up for a class! Ravioli anyone?

IMG_8287 IMG_8215 IMG_8193 IMG_8192 IMG_8186IMG_8217

Something new to this Eataly is their new breakfast options, starting at 7AM. Think espresso, of course, tarts, yogurt and granola, and amazing yet simple egg sandwiches. The bread was amazing, and the egg was soft yet not runny. So good, all with just salt on it. Fantastic.

Really great roasted rotisserie chickens, but also some amazing prime rib. So good.

Fresh Mozzarella

Sure, they the imported stuff, which is awesome, but real mozzarella is supposed to be eaten within hours, and be done by days end. Eataly delivers in spades. So fresh, so creamy, some of the best I’ve had…and I’ve had my fair share.

IMG_8291 IMG_8290 IMG_8294 IMG_8296 IMG_8298 IMG_8223 IMG_8225 IMG_8236 IMG_8277 IMG_8278

The Market

While there is a dedicated section here and there, there’s awesome product everywhere. From pastas to sauces to crackers to 120 olive oils and everything else you could imagine (think funny T-shirts and cookbooks), there is literally nothing related to Italian food and culture that you cannot find here. Awesome. By the way, that Pisani pasta is Mario’s favorite.

IMG_8246 IMG_8271 IMG_8272 IMG_8233

Dining Area

One of the things I really loved about this new Eataly is that there’s an entire wing dedicated to just dining venues. There’s a wine bar, a fish-focused restaurant, a pizzeria, a pasta area, and a high-end sit down restaurant (see below). The layout is awesome and it’s nice to have it seperate from the market section of the venue. It’s a nice change to the Flatiron location where everything is all mixed together. Really enjoyed it.

IMG_8274 IMG_8255 IMG_8256 IMG_8254

Osteria Della Pace

This may be the crown jewel of the entire venue. This is an upscale, full service restaurant focused on Southern Italian cooking. Chef Riccardo Orfino is at the helm and cooking the true Italian way…simple with the best ingredients. His pasta pomodoro was fantastically al dente with a wonderful tomato sauce sourced from two Italian and one local (New Jersey) tomato. Literally, it was perfect. So simple yet so amazingly delicious and satisfying when done as well as this is.

IMG_8264 IMG_8266 IMG_8268 IMG_8276 IMG_8275 IMG_8218 IMG_8206 IMG_8196

Mario Batali and Learning About Food And Culture

The place is unreal. I can’t say enough. I can’t wait to go back. You learn about the culture, the food, how it’s made and where it comes from. They even have, essentially, a learning center about cheese, meat, wine, and pasta in a narrow hallway leading to the bathrooms! Dude…I even took a selfie with Mario Batali. He’s a partner and a driving force…and he really knows his stuff.

If you’re in NYC, do yourself and favor and check this place out. You won’t be disappointed. In fact, I bet you won’t want to leave. Ever.

Ready For Baby? BabyPalooza, évolur and Mia Moda Are There To Help

Blogger Bash Boat

There are always events happening in NYC. Literally every day there’s something cool and unique to see or do. One of the more impressive events I’ve attended recently had to have been Blogger Bash. Aside from the fact that it took place in a boat docked alongside the shores of Manhattan, there was just so much to get into, with a ton of great sponsors.

Babypalooza Selfie

Within the event, there was a “mini” event that I really enjoyed the most. It was called BabyPalooza and it focused on with celebrity meet and greets, games, pampering and let’s not forget — plenty of giveaways! Some of the most well-known brands to moms mixed in with some awesome new companies were at Babypalooza to introduce you to their new products, engage with fun activations and discuss one-on-one how they would like to work with you in the future. It was hard to figure out which brand to head over to first with this incredible line-up!

Dream of Me Products

A couple of brands’ style really stood out and caught my eye, both part of the DOM Family of brands. The first, évolur, is a brand-new nursery furniture collection with convertible designs that evolve from babyhood and beyond, such as 5-in-1 cribs and a hutch that converts into a bookshelf. The line is coveted by a ton of everyday parents as well as celebrities and was recently featured on the Ellen DeGeneres show’s “Mother’s Day” special. Created with moms in mind to meet their every need, évolur features innovative design, impeccable quality, and versatility; transitional style to suit every taste; unique functionality to adapt to the many stages of childhood and within the home; and high-quality materials and craftsmanship.

evolue pewter

The best part for me was the amazing Windsor Crib and Dresser in Pewter Finish (Antique Bronze). It’s just so unique, it really looks awesome. Given the quality of the convertibility of the line, having a refined and stylish color option like this is a home run. You don’t have to worry about your kids being ‘too old” for this furniture. This furniture is primed and ready to evolve and grow with you and your family. Plus the low price point is sick. This is a no-doubter. Available at Amazon and BabiesRUs.

Mia Moda Stroller Red

Another really cool line was Mia Moda’s line of baby gear includes European-styled baby strollers. These babies are simply built for today’s modern family with a fusion of function, fashion, longevity, and affordability. Celebrities like Christine Lakin and Amy Davidson stroll with the Marisa 3-in-1 Stroller, which grows with children from baby to toddler. It has dope features like a padded, reversible seat for parent-facing or forward-facing seating, a flat sleeper seat, conversion to carry cot, adjustable handlebar, and other high-tech features for safety, comfort, and convenience. To top it off, it was super lightweight (everyone couldn’t believe it) and easy to maneuver. It was even easy for me and some other taller guys in attendance to wheel this baby around. Nicely designed for sure.

While I loved the Marisa, the compact-folding Enzo Stroller was really awesome. The look was super unique, but the fact that it folded up so small that you could drop it into a bag blew my mind. It’s amazing how easy to use that stroller is. Seriously great style and amazing design. It really sets itself apart in so many ways.

Mia Moda Stroller folded

The thing that struck me the most was that these brands seem to be trying to check off all the boxes. Some brands go very stylish and super high-end in pricing while some go for the more affordable pricing but maybe lack some of the bells and whistles many people really love to see. évolur and Mia Moda truly seem to be toeing the line of style, function, and price, trying to get the customer the best of all three. I like that. I like that a lot. Sure, more companies should be shooting for this balance, but so few do. DOM Family seems to be different, and thankfully so.

Mia Moda Stroller black
Now, once you have your nursery all set-up, you may be forgetting something that’s very, very important! Hello, what is that little baby going to sleep on? You need a great mattress!!  Just as there has been a move toward better quality mattresses for adults, the same holds true for baby, even if not more so. The mattress needs to be of top quality and needs to be incorporated in any budgeting for the nursery. I believe that the mattress is actually the most important piece of the nursery so take your time and make the right choice for you because it really plays an important role in a baby’s development. Don’t skimp out!!  had to mention this since évolur Crib & Toddler Mattresses are truly amazing and are Made in USA!!
Just like with their nursery furniture, évolur Sleep is changing this market by making a quality baby & toddler foam mattress and a natural organic coconut fiber mattress that parents can afford at a fraction of the price for the high quality material and innovative patented technology that is used.

These mattresses are so great, I’d love for someone to win one to enjoy for themselves! One (1) lucky Guy and the Blog reader will receive a mattress for their little one!!

KidzVuz Back-To-School Event In NYC Rocked With Backyard Food, Classroom Direct, and Baron Fig #KidzVuzBTS

Kidzvuz Stairs 7-16

I recently had the good fortune of attending a great event in NYC. It was the KidzVuz Back-to-School event. The space was a very comfortable, all-white space on the west side of Manhattan. The mood was super festive, with bloggers roaming, kids playing, and music pumping. This was a back-to-school event I could get into!

As I made my way around the event, I couldn’t help but feel that people really were enjoying themselves, from the sponsors to the attendees. When the kids are laughing, you know you have something going. Be sure to get your hashtags and social media handles in order, please.

Kidzvuz 7-16

While there were a number of great exhibits at the event, a couple of businesses really caught my eye. The top would have to be The Backyard Food Company. Now, full disclosure, my family is good friends with the family of one of the founders. That being said, friends-schmiends. This food is dope. Seriously, certifiably dope. I truly would say that if I didn’t know Matt and Louby from a hole in the wall.

The product flavors and styles are innovative and really pop. They just taste awesome and stand out from the crowd. Be it sweet and sour pickles to tomato jam to candies jalapeños, eating these goodies just make you ask…how has this not been a thing, and a thing in my life, until now? They have a knack for not only growing the freshest produce but combining and layering flavors that work in complete harmony with each other. You can tell it’s fresh, it’s small batch, and it’s made with the love of two guys that really give a crap about what they are doing. If you read their story, you can see why.

Dude…get yourself a napkin and check out what, literally, everyone that came to their table was raving (and drooling and asking for seconds and thirds) about:

Wholly Jalapeno!

Backyard Food Kidzvuz 7-16

The spreads to make your (insert just about any food here) sing!

Backyard Food Kidzvuz 3 7-16

Seriously. These spreads, jams, relishs, and pickles (not seen here) were so good the fellas had a hard time keeping up with the demand.

Backyard Food Kidzvuz 2 7-16

You’re welcome. Now you know and knowing is almost as good as ordering from them online. Don’t be shy now, your locavore tastebuds are depending on it.

Classroom Direct

I need to get this food out of my head, stat. Let me know think about something else. Maybe I can talk about another great exhibitor I really liked, especially given the BTS theme and the time of the year. My #2 of the event had to be Classroom Direct.

There just seems to be so much to get the kids for school these days. It can make your head spin. In case you weren’t hip to the game, Classroom Direct provides best-selling PreK-8 classroom supplies at budget-friendly prices.Classroom Direct Shopping Collage

Check out all of our Deals like Clearance and Price Drops. Shop over 24,000 classroom supplies including Teachers’ Favorite Arts & Crafts to Office Supplies,Furniture, Early Childhood, AV Technology and Equipment, Math, Science, Social Studies, Special Needs, Physical Education and so much more!

There’s even FREE SHIPPING on supply orders of $49 or more, every day! Done and done…you can’t be the ease and convenience of this! Hello, BTS just got easy.

Kidzvuz Gift Bags7-16

In the end, there were gift bags. Who doesn’t love gift bags. That’s correct, no one does not like gift bags. They complete the event. They put a nice little bow on it. Hopefully you get something cool in there, too. The bag setup reflected the rest of the event, well planned and nicely laid out. They looked good and were ready for a weary blogger to grab on their way to the next event or back home. I was going back home as it was Friday evening, and I was loving the goods.

The best part of the bag for me had to be the Baron Fig Vanguard Notebook. The simple and stylish design is just what I like and the calm muted colors hit just the right cord for me. I just don’t want bright and flashy, which so many planners and notebooks are today. This seems to feel just right, smack in my wheelhouse.

Screen Shot 2016-07-22 at 2.36.28 PM

I like the look and feel of the clean, soft cover. It shows how much texture still means in an increasingly sterile and digital world. This feels like something that should be held and used, daily.

Screen Shot 2016-07-22 at 2.36.16 PM

Another great KidzVuz event and the sober reminder that summer will end before you know it and that the kids will be out of the house all day long. While there are some days that make this very appealing, most of the time I really do miss the kids when they are gone. It’s nice to have them hanging around every day. They are only little for a short time, so I really try to enjoy it all. Besides, most of the things that annoy us as parents aren’t much of a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Keep that in mind next time you pray for school to start!!!

Bolthouse Farms Spring Flavors Launched…And It Was Good #BolthouseFarms #FoodSocial #FreshTip

Bolthouse Farms Event 2016 10

Bolthouse Farms, known for their of super premium beverages, launched some amazing new spring flavors with Siriously Delicious founder and “Today Show” contributor, Siri Daly and renowned photographer Bright Bazaar’s Will Taylor at Haven’s Kitchen in NYC. The space was really nice and laid out perfectly for the day of sampling and other fun Bolthouse Farms had in store for us.

Bolthouse Farms Event 2016 13

First, we sat down and got a chance to sample all the goodies. The tasting menu was stocked and ready to rock…and so was I. The we sampled 6 new beverages, each one was better than the next. Some were light and refreshing while some were richer and very satisfying.

The Raspberry Blood Orange was very tasty and one of my favorites…and then they made a cocktail…and it was good. This may be the perfect mixer for sparking wine or hard liquor alike. The sweet-tart flavor really popped.

Bolthouse Farms Event 2016 12

Berries and Green Veggies was awesome. I love green drinks that expertly mix the sweetness of fruit with the bitterness and wholesomeness of greens. This was balanced perfectly, for real. It was very tasty, all the while you know you were doing something good for your body.

Bolthouse Farms Event 2016 4

Next up…Mango Pineapple Colada. This is the tropical drink dream you’ve been waiting at the beach your whole life for. It’s great. Very tasty, healthy, and another great cocktail mixer. Classic and delicious, with a touch of mango to spice it up a bit.

Now we get to the Protein PLUS® line of deliciousness. These drinks are thick, rich, hearty, loaded with protein and flavor. Dope line of product.

Protein PLUS® Strawberry was great. I love strawberries, strawberry ice cream, and strawberry yogurt. Some of my favorites of all time…and this drink smashes with that awesome flavor. I loved it.

Protein PLUS® Coconut was tasty and rich, given the protein and the natural fatty goodness and richness of the coconut. Very tasty and balanced.

Finally, Protein PLUS® Banana Honey Almond Butter was on the menu. Now, this is pretty much a protein shake all done and ready to go. It was very sweet and very rich, the sweetest of all the 6 drinks by a long shot. The balance of the almond butter was great to balance the sweet.

Bolthouse Farms Event 2016 11

Bolthouse Farms Event 2016 14

To highlight the many uses for juices beyond the bottle, Siri Daly taught us how to make easy and delicious recipes that literally rocked…hard. She also shared some other tips when cooking with juices. Then, Will Taylor offered us some of his secrets and tricks for taking the best images to ensure some super dope, very Instagram-worthy pics of all your foodie shots. It was a great day all around that really showcased how tasty, versatile, and pretty awesome Bolthouse Farms goodies are.

The event was great and the new line of flavors were really great. It’s nice the something so darn tasty is also good for you. I took some home and my kids inhaled the lot of it. I didn’t have a chance…seriously. This was a home run for me and the family.

NY Restaurants

Eataly NYC’s NEW Sabbia by Birreria Is All About Ultra Fresh Italian Seaside Dining and Cocktails

If you’ve ever been to Eataly in New York, you know how amazing the place is. It’s chaotic, it’s frenetic, it’s packed at all hours, it’s cozy, it’s warm, and it has some of the most amazing Italian food in the world. From bars to restaurants to butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers…you can get your Italian fix in a big way. Anytime I’m anywhere near this place (hello Nutella Bar), I have to pop in. Even if just for some gelato.

One of the great spaces lies up on the 14th floor…the rooftop. It’s called La Birreria, and it’s a fantastic craft beer casual restaurant. It’s great, and it’s been great since it opened a few years ago. Recently, though, they created an Italian Alps-themed winter theme in the space…and everyone loved it. So, what is an uber ambitious and equally successful Eataly to do? Well, make it into a spring and summer appopriate, Italian beach-themed space called Sabbia, of course. Silly.

SABBIA, an Italian seaside restaurant on the roof, is a pop-up that will feature the best coastal food and drink under the sun. SABBIA, Italian for “sand,” will transport visitors from the hot pavement of Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue to Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts. The laid-back environment draws inspiration from the waves and breezes of the Italian coastline (think: the breathtaking Domus de Maria in Sardegna, beautiful city of Rimini in Emilia-Romagna, and the famed island of Capri) and comes complete with cabanas for toasting the summer inside and a retractable roof for basking in the sunshine.

The space was perfect. Open, fresh, beachy, fun. It hit the spot on all accounts and I can see when the weather is warm and the roof is open, this place will be rocking.

With Executive Chef Fitz Tallon at the helm, the menu will feature delicious, easy-to-eat coastal fare that celebrate both land and sea. Try light and fresh grilled meats, seafood, and veggies. Pretty much just what you are looking for when it’s hot. Some of the awesome includes Gamberetti alla Bagnara (seared shrimp with bagnara sauce); Penne allo Scoglio (Afeltra penne with squid, shrimp, Manila clams, and white wine); Bombette (grilled steak stuffed with Caciocavallo); and Pesce Spada allo Beccafico (grilled swordfish with breadcrumbs, garlic, onions, Parmigiano Reggiano, currants, green olives, parsley, and lemon). Everything was perfect and spot-on for the space and the vibe. Even the grilled zucchini was great. The food all really meshed well with the delicious cocktails and the overall care-free, beachy vibe of the space.

If that wasn’t even, there are also Island Creek Oysters, a sustainable oyster farm anchored in Duxbury Bay, Mass.. Sabbia is paring up with them for an amazing oyster bar set up on the deck of SABBIA, where the oyster-shucking action in their signature ice-filled boat will heighten the coastal theme of the space.

I’m not a huge cocktail guy, but I have to admit, these were really good. I mean, very clean and refreshing. Again, perfect for the place. The full drink menu will feature 12 specialty cocktails and non-alcoholic refreshments, as well as an extensive selection of over more than 50 beers and wines. Signature drinks include the Hoppy Hour, made with Absolute Citron Vodka, fresh carrot juice, ginger honey, and lemon; the Limone-Jito, made with Kraken Spiced Rum, Meletti Limoncello, passion fruit puree, lime, and mint; and the Pesca Fresca, made with peach puree, rosemary, lemon, and sparkling water. I also really enjoyed the Sorrento Spritz, made with Flor Prosecco, Mint, Cucumber, and Sorrento Lime Juice, and the Italian Riviera Spritz, made with Aperol, Niasca Mandarinata, and Lurisia Sparking Water. One was better than the next. And the really chill bar staff was good enough to pour me some of their tap beer, including some great Baladin Nora, Grimm Neon Lights, and two house made cask-conditioned beers. Everything was stellar.

I mean…cabanas…
