Always on the hunt..for beer baby. Who doesn’t love a cool refreshing bevvy once in a while (or multiple times per day)? Well I certainly do. Always checking out the latest at the local watering holes, distributors, and markets. Be adventurous…will getting a single or a sixer really kill you, even if it’s horrific? And what are the chances, really, that it’s THAT terrible anyway? Man up…
A couple of days ago, I went way out there…The House of Shandy Beer Co. Now, if you know what a shandy is, it can be an awesome summer, hot day beer. As per Wikipedia:
A shandy, or shandygaff, is beer mixed with citrus-flavored soda, carbonatedlemonade, ginger beer, ginger ale, or cider. The proportions of the two ingredients are adjusted to taste, normally half-and-half.Nonalcoholic shandies are known as “rock shandies”.
A shandy containing beer and cider is called a snakebite.
In some jurisdictions, the low alcohol content of shandies makes them exempt from laws governing the sale of alcoholic beverages. – SWEET!
So, many of you may say…nasty, or that sounds like a chick drink, as you down Coors Light. Well, my friends, this is a fine beer and a great game changer every once in a while. On my visit, there was the traditional lemony beer refresher (Curious Traveler)…but also a more fall-friendly version (Tenacious Traveler) with ginger and honey. This would make for an awesome hot toddy, for sure, but it also makes for a good beer. Now, that being said…could I drink 4 or 5…I doubt that. One or 2…perfect.
Next time you’re in the mood for something new and exciting, perhaps mind-altering and life changing…this is not it. If you are looking for a solid beer option to change up the typical day-in-day-out mix…this is your beer.
Oh yeah…Stache of the Week??? What? Awesome, that’s what.
