Thirsty Thursday: The Traveler Beer Co. and the World’s First IPA Shandy

Traveler Beer IPA Shandy

Did someone say “IPA?” Did someone say “Shady?” Those are two mighty fine words aren’t they? Cool, refreshing, magical. Well, it’s funny. Up until right now, at this exact point in time, no one has mentioned those two words together, in beautiful tandem. The Traveler Beer Co. is out to change all of that.

Meet the IPA Shandy. #holla

This brew smashes some hoppy American IPA toughness with some tasty, grapefruit-tinged shandy to bring you some very unique, blow-your-mind tastiness. It pours almost like an unfiltered, cloudy wheat beer, but tastes completely different. There’s the bite of the hops and the tart of the grapefruit. It’s in no way sweet like a more traditional lager-based shandy. It’s really a pretty nice balance. It’s something you can drink a few of, either on your couch, in your yard, or at the beach. It also seems like it would be pretty dope pairing with some food, like burgers.

The Burlington, VT-based Travelers Beer Co. loves pushing the envelope and questioning the status quo, while throwing down some fresh brews perfect for beer drinkers. This is a good beer. Period. It’s a little different, but in a good way. IPA Shandy is available in 6-packs and in bars/restaurants year-round right now.

I like me some citrus in my beers, so this one fits the bill. It cuts the hops when you are not in the mood for a blowout, but it doesn’t kill it to the point where the IPA is unrecognizable. It’s a very nice, refreshing beer.

Bill is a guy that's been working at home since 2008. What does that mean? It means he runs a business, has a blog, takes care of the kids and house, and doesn't really have much more time left in the day. Piece of cake, but wouldn't have it any other way.
