You sit at the home office desk day in and day out. Most of the time it’s pretty awesome. No commute, PJs all day, no one to answer to. Sometimes, though, you begin to wonder why it was you came home to work when you are doing the same tedious tasks day in and day out with the same view each morning.

While working from home is such a fantastic option for most people, it can bring on some challenges. You are working in the place you also reside, which can be very monotonous. Family, recreation, down time, and work time all happen in the same location. There are few and far in between times that you actually get out of the home for a change of scenery. As you work year after year like this, your mind can begin to get numb.

While most people who work from home will tell you that it was the best decision they ever made, it’s not for the faint at heart. Working from home, maintaining clients and keeping that work load going all the while watching your family enjoy life around isn’t easy. You need dedication, motivation and focus when it comes to working from home. A simple change in scenery is a necessary component when it comes to working from home because it allows you to rejuvenate.

There are a few options to getting that change of scenery when you work from home, such as:

  • Heading to the local café and using their Wi-Fi to get work done
  • Dropping by the local park and sitting on the park bench writing notes or using your laptop
  • Heading to the local recreational center where the kids can play and you can get work done
  • Even working on a bench in your yard can be enough of a change to feel the difference

When you take the time to go work outside of your normal desk/work area, you are actually doing something very good for you, your family, and your business. Taking the time for a chance of scenery to work from allows you to get back in touch with your creative side. Just one small switch up in your weekly work routine where you head off to work outside of the home will allow your productivity to increase because you will no longer feel trapped inside the home you reside at.

Being able to understand how your mind works and when you need to take on this change of scenery is left in your hands. Only you know when a change of scenery is needed, be sure to listen to that little voice inside telling you it’s time to switch things up and just get to doing it! Make it a weekly thing. Even one time a week could make a huge difference.
