We all love to see Christmas movies and hear Christmas music this time of year. There’s no doubt about that. So many timeless classics and so many new wonders seem to come out each year. It’s a special time of year and everyone seems to feel it and revel in it.

While thinking about great Christmas movies, I came up with so many favorites. When I was asked to participate in this year’s 12 Days of Fox Christmas campaign, I was super excited. Just take a look at this list:

  1. Miracle on 34th street (1947 Original)
  2. A Christmas Carol (1984)
  3. Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas
  4. Miracle on 34th Street (1994 Remake)
  5. Black Nativity
  6. Jingle All The Way
  7. The Family Stone
  8. Deck The Halls
  9. The Nutcracker
  10. Home Alone
  11. Die Hard
  12. Mr. Popper’s Penguins

SO MANY AMAZING MOVIES!! You might be asking why DIE HARD is on this list…that’s not a Christmas movie! Well, I would say that it depends on how you look at it. There can be a lot said about how this is actually a Christmas movie.

In celebration of DIE HARD being Day 12 of the “12 Days of Fox Christmas” celebration, check out my 5 Reasons why Die Hard is the Ultimate Christmas Movie! Then head over to iTunes to instantly download it to enjoy a Fox Christmas movie tonight!

Here’s my 5 Reasons why Die Hard is the Ultimate Christmas Movie:

  1. It actually is set during Christmas Eve
    1. This would be a pretty big factor in making it a Christmas movie, no? John McClane (Bruce Willis), is in LA on Christmas Eve to visit his estranged wife and their young children. He goes to the now famous Nakatomi Plaza where his wife’s company is having their Christmas party. Bad guy crazy action and adventure ensue.
  2. There’s Christmas music playing from the get go
    • Run-DMC’s “Christmas in Hollis” is playing during the intro and “Ode to Joy” is played throughout…very festive indeed.
  3. The main character wears tons of red (ok, it’s blood) and is covered in soot
    • I think you get the idea.
  4. Time and love of family is a major theme
    • John McClane wanted to see his family during Christmas specifically and much of the story revolves around how he realizes more and more with each explosion, how important his family really is to him.
  5. The main character morphs from grumpy to happy
    • Let’s face it, John’s a little grumpy at the beginning of the movie. He has to travel across the country to see his family, his estranged wife wants to go back to her maiden name, and he’s getting shipped to some dopey office party on Christmas eve. But, much like Mr. Scrooge, the events of the night put things in perspective and seemingly make him a much happier and better person in the end. There are many famous Christmas stories that relate exactly to this and how the Christmas season and spirit can change people.

Well, what do you think? Did I sell all the believers on Die Hard being a great Christmas movie?? C’mon, people, be open minded! If you are not completely sold, I think watching the movie right now will do the trick. The best part, you actually can download a copy right now!

Digital HD makes watching your favorite Fox Christmas movies quick and easy. Simply buy DIE HARD by visiting iTunes. Then watch on your tablet, smartphone, computer, or internet-connected TV and create memories that will last a lifetime…and try to tell me it’s not a Christmas movie!!

I am thrilled to be talking about Die Hard in partnership with Fox Home Entertainment. All opinions expressed are my own.
