Costa Rica is a stunning country with some of the most amazing landscapes and incredible wildlife. It is no wonder tourists, and travelers go there to experience incredible and fulfilling adventures. It’s a little more “wild” and natural than other resort destinations. If you are planning on visiting Costa Rica, it will be made clear that its natural wonders are beyond worth the journey to get there.

Cocos Island

Cocos Island is an island in the Pacific Ocean off the west shore of Costa Rica where scuba diving and extreme wildlife come together.  Schools of scalloped hammerhead sharks, marlin, manta rays, and turtles have made the islands one of the top diving destinations.

The shores are also crammed with tropical vegetation and unique animals not found anywhere else in the world. The dense rainforests are then broken up by waterfalls and rivers. Cocos Islands are a great excursion to get the most astonishing trip in, out, and under the water.

Arenal Volcano Costa Rica

Arenal Volcano

Arenal Volcano is located in northeast Costa Rica and a great location for not only hiking but a bit of relaxation too. You can climb and hike through the outstanding lava landscapes of the famous volcano while an expert guide ensures your safety.

Mineral hot springs are also there to soak in after the adventure of exploring Arenal Volcano. These natural volcanic hot springs happen to be known for rejuvenating mineral abilities.

Corcovado National Park Costa Rica

Corcovado National Park

Have you ever wanted to go backpacking through exotic forests with striking views? Corcovado National Park is the perfect opportunity for this. Its trail a relatively dried and take you through an abundance of different ecosystems.

The 23 miles of golden sand beaches are lined with coconut palms where you can take a dip and float up to a waterfall to rinse off under.

There are also chances to see some endangered and shy inhabitants there. For example, the Red-backed squirrel monkey, Jaguar, Harpy eagle, and Scarlet Macaw.

Mount Chirripo

Mount Chirripo is Costa Rica’s tallest mountain, offering hikers whole-scale views of the neighboring Talamanca Mountains. Its high elevations allow for rare and usually never-before-seen environments.

From Chirripo’s summit, beautiful valleys and sparkling lakes surround the bottomland. The Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean can be seen on particularly clear days.

Some of the trails at Chirripo National Park track ancient indigenous pathways, and at lower elevations cloud forests contain insanely uncommon animals.

Tortuguero National Park

Tortuguero National Park is best viewed from a boat and a hotspot for nature lovers whenever you want to take a break from hiking!

This extensive network of swamps, lagoons, and creeks create beautiful, unique islands you can see from the pleasure of a boat, canoe, or kayak.

Turtles are by far the biggest attraction here. You can go on land and follow a trail to spot turtle nesting on beaches. If you are super lucky, you might get the chance to newly hatched baby turtles race to the sea.

Nauyaca Waterfalls Costa Rica

Nauyaca Waterfalls

It’s hard to find a place more majestic than the Nauyaca Waterfalls. They are located in a canyon in the southern region of Costa Rica. Its natural scenic beauty is something any tourist cannot miss out on.

20-45 meter high waterfalls are perfect places to jump off into a natural pool of a thousand square meters and six meters deep.

Monteverde Cloud Forest

If you don’t already know what how cloud forests got their name, it is because you will see a thin veil of clouds below the canopy. When the clouds dissipate into rain, it drips down on all of the plants and leaves below, causing a spectacular view from above.

Each foggy, mysterious cloud creates a one-of-a-kind trip there. If you hike with a guide, you are more likely to see wildlife and these magical clouds up close.

Manuel Antonio National Park

Although it is somewhat small, that doesn’t stop tourists visiting Manuel Antonio National Park because of its white sand beaches surrounded by dense forest.

When in it’s small town you can find fresh fruits and veggies as well as luxury vacation rentals. Not to mention the monkeys that border the beach, something you can’t find anywhere else.

Catarata del Toro Waterfall

Catarata del Toro is located in Poas Volcano and can be considered Costa Rica’s most impressive waterfall. It tumbles into an old volcanic crater, splashing up cool mist creating a mystical vibe.

This hidden gem has a 300-foot drop where you can hike through a rainforest while witnessing wildlife simultaneously.
