Kayla Harrison won the Gold Medal in the 78 KG/178 lb. division in Judo today, becoming the first American to ever win Olympic Gold in the sport.

Besides the historical significance of the achievement, what makes the win so inspirational is that Kayla (who used to train and live together with Ronda Rousey) was sexually abused for years by her former coach while she was only a teenager. She has said that judo saved her life. Now, she is an Olympic Gold Medalist.

More of her story here.
