This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of LG. All opinions are 100% mine.

Wife, kids, dog, fish, home. Protecting and ensuring their well-being are top priorities for me and for any man. It’s what life is all about – making sure what means the most to me is taken care of. Securing my home and protecting my family is something I am always thinking about. I’m always considering new and better ways to help me to do this. It’s just a part of life, especially when I am traveling or at work.

With this concern as a constant in my life and given rapid changes in technology today, keeping on top of everything can be very difficult. You need to know what works well and what doesn’t. So many options, so many choices. One device I’ve come across recently that I’m really feeling is LG’s new plug-and-play security monitoring solution and home automation device, LG Smart Security. This baby lets you monitor and secure your home with confidence via your smartphone as the first device to be secured by ADT Canopy.

With ADT Canopy™, users can subscribe on a month-to-month basis, with no long-term contract and no penalties for cancellation. Customers have the option of two ADT Canopy services: Intrusion Detection and Secure Video Storage. Intrusion Detection delivers 24/7 professional security monitoring and will alert emergency personnel when an alarm is triggered if the camera detects video motion, and it offers the capability to remotely arm or disarm the security device from anywhere. Once the alarm is received, ADT will call the user via phone for verification and if nobody answers, ADT will dispatch first-responders. With Secure Video Storage, users can access stored video content choosing from a seven- or 30-day history package. It’s similar to the “central station” monitored alarms many of us are familiar. I love the security of the monitoring.

In addition to the monitoring, the device offers a great video feed. The feed looks awesome because the device sports super sharp, full HD video of your home sent directly to your smartphone or tablet. LG Smart Security is equipped with a 5-megapixel camera that captures 1080p pictures and features zoom capability. The camera can capture virtually an entire room with minimal image distortion, as it features a 130-degree field-of-view. In other words, this is not skimping on any tech to deliver you the awesome.

In addition to the security this device offers, I’ve been using the LG Smart Security device as a central hub to control other smart home products, such as lights, locks and thermostats in my home. With the device’s Z-Wave support, users can also add contact sensors to doors and windows to provide extra security, and they can add smart outlets for programming and scheduling when the lights come on and off. LG Smart Security will be compatible with Amazon Alexa-enabled products at launch and future software updates will include support for additional smart devices, including door locks and thermostats. You even get a warning text if levels change drastically in your home, ensuring that possible issues or even disasters have a much better chance of being taken care of before major issues occur.

The glue that holds all of this tech together is the mobile device app for iOS or Android. When I’m on the road or away from home, it’s so easy to check the status of my home using the ADT Canopy – LG Smart Security mobile app. It’s the app that offers me all that remote access to view a live feed of my home, access previously recorded footage, check temperature and humidity, change security modes and more. It’s amazing what a feeling of security this affords me when I’m not at home.

This is a homerun, plain and simple. I am loving that LG Smart Security combines the cutting-edge tech and design savvy elements of LG products with the power of ADT Canopy. It seems to be a match made in heaven, right? This is the perfect solution for those looking for augmented home security with simple setup and professional security service options with no long-term contracts.

Whether you are parents using it to check in on kids while at work, pet lovers checking up on “Fido,” or new homeowners checking in on their new baby, you can really keep track of everything that’s important to you from just about anywhere you happen to be. I mean, you can even communicate with people or pets at home via your phone and the device’s two-way built-in mic and speaker, which allows users to hear and talk to people at home when they are away. It’s crazy how cool technology can be.

I worry about not having a security system at home. I think this would ease my nerves a bit.
