Tasty Tuesday: Spider-Man Oreos

If you love living, then you likely love two things, Spider-Man and Oreos. Yes, I said that right there and it’s so true. How can one not love these two things? Better yet, how can one not love when these two things are combined into something so blissfully tasty and awesome looking that you can’t help but smile? No one, I say, at least no one with a soul.

So if you, in fact, have a soul, then you will not only read and love the following simple recipe for Spider-Man Oreos, but you will run (not walk) to your local store and kitchen to make them. Enjoy!

What You Will Need

  • 1 cookie mold
  • 6 regular Oreo cookies
  • 1 cup red Wilton candy melts (from a 12 oz bag)
  • Wilton black decorator icing

What You Will Need To Do

1.   Heat the red candy melts in a Wilton candy warmer or double boiler pan until completely melted and smooth.
2.   Pour 2 Tablespoons of melted candy in each cookie mold.
3.   Place an Oreo cookie in each mold, on top of the melted chocolate.
4.   Pour additional melted red candy on top of each cookie, up to the top of each mold.
5.   Refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
6.   Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
7.   Gently pop out the chilled Oreos onto the cookie sheet.
8.  Use the black icing gel to create a spider web by drawing 3 circles on top and then about 8 lines across the circles.
9. Place in the refrigerator for 20 minutes for everything to “set.”
10. Enjoy!
Makes 6 cookies and many smiles. For anyone with a soul.

Wafer Cookie Construction Trucks

These are the dope. A sweet treat with some awesome candy thrown in for good measure. On top of all of that, everyone will be all about the awesome trucks when they are all down. It’s almost too good to eat…but don’t be stupid…eat them until your head spins!

What You Will Need

  • 1 pkg. Vanilla Wafer Cookies
  • 1 box Junior Mints
  • 1 Wilton Candy Melt Drizzle Pouch
  • Blue Jolly Ranchers
  • Pretzel Sticks
  • Edible Candy Rocks
  • Wilton Round Ball Sprinkles
  • Wilton Dab-N-Hold Edible Adhesive

What You Will Need To Do

  1. First, cut some wafers in half and cut a few in thirds, and set aside.
  2. Unwrap a few jolly ranchers and lay on parchment paper and microwave for about a minute or until the candy is soft enough to flatten and cut. Then cut out tiny square windows and a rectangle windshield. You may have to reheat the candy a few times as it does start to harden quickly.
  3. When you are ready to start assembly, pop the candy melt pouch in the microwave and heat according to package directions. Note: this will have to be reheated a few times during the truck assembly process as the chocolate starts to harden in the pouch.
  4. Using the candy pouch, attach the half wafer to one end of the whole wafer. Now attach the one third wafer to the half wafer so you create the hood of the truck.
  5. Now attach the Junior Mint wheels to the whole wafer and the ball sprinkles on the front to make the headlights using your candy melt pouch.
  6. Using the dab-n-hold, attach the jolly rancher windshield and windows.
  7. Squeeze candy melt all over the bed of the truck and stick the pretzel logs or the candy rocks on each one.
  8. Store in an airtight container or have fun playing and eating them!

Done. Pretty easy and the results are sweet, man. Literally. The kids will go nuts, for real. Even the older ones you think wouldn’t. It’s just a really cool recipe with a great, fun result. Enjoy.

Snowman Pops to Help Get Through Winter

Who’s ready for a dope treat that’s perfect for these chilly times? Sure, there’s no snow on the ground on Long Island right now, but there should be! Bring some of it into your home without having to scream and get a mop with these delectable pops. They are glorious I say.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 ½ cup White Chocolate Melts/Discs
  • 8 Large Marshmallows
  • Orange candy coated sunflower seeds
  • Sour Candy strips and drops
  • Necco Wafer Candy
  • Black Sprinkles or edible Black marker
  • Sucker Sticks

What You’ll Need To Do

  1. Insert sucker sticks into the bottom of marshmallows.
  2. Then, take the sour candy strips and cut 8 strips to about 3 inches long.
  3. Next, take your white chocolate discs and put in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue to do this until discs are all melted.
  4. Dip Marshmallow into melted chocolate, tap on edge to remove excess. Insert into foam block or cake pop stand.
  5. Immediately add the necco wafer disc on top. Then take a sour drop and dip just the bottom in the chocolate and stick on top of the necco wafer.
  6. After all the “hats” are on, the chocolate will have set up a bit, so then add your orange sunflower as the nose. (By letting them set for a few minutes, the nose will stick and won’t fall off).
  7. Now take a sour strip and add a little melted chocolate to one side. Lay the bottom of the marshmallow in the middle and wrap one side to the front and then wrap the other side to the front. (You can cross them a little so it looks more like a scarf).
  8. Let all pops dry, about 5 minutes.
  9. Next, if need be, melt your chocolate a little more. Add to a sandwich size baggie. Snip a Very small hole in the corner. This will be your piping bag. (This step can be skipped and you could use a black edible marker to make your mouth and eyes).
  10. Pipe 4-5 dots for mouth and 2 dots for eyes. Sprinkle with Black sprinkles, make sure to coat evenly. Tap the sucker stick to remove any excess sprinkles.
  11. They are ready to Serve!

Snowman pops. Because it’s winter.

Hang on to Fall with Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll in Cast Iron

I know that Fall is giving way to the Winter very soon, but I love pumpkin food and drink. I just do. It’s seasonal, it’s flavorful, it typically has a nice warm spice to it. It’s a favorite and, while it’s still pretty warm and fall-like, here’s an awesome little treat you and your family will absolutely love!! It’s Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll in Cast Iron!!

Here’s what you will need:

  • 2 cans of refrigerator cinnamon rolls
  • 1 small can pumpkin pie mix
  • Baking spray
  • ½ C sugar
  • 2 TBSP cinnamon
  • Powder sugar

Here’s what you will need to do to make the Cinnamon Sugar:

  1. Combine your sugar and cinnamon in a bowl mixing until well blended
  2. If you prefer a finer blend then put the sugar and cinnamon into a spice grinder and grind until the desired texture has been achieved

Here’s what you will need to do to make the Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll: 

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. Prep your cast iron skillet with baking spray
  3. Open each can refrigerator cinnamon rolls and separate each roll
  4. Cut each roll into quarters
  5. Place the quartered pieces into the prepared cast iron skillet
  6. Sprinkle your cinnamon sugar over the pan of uncooked cinnamon rolls
  7. Using a small ice cream scoop spoon pumpkin pie mix on top of the cinnamon sugar covered rolls
  8. Bake at 375 degrees for 13-17 minutes (or until golden brown)
  9. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly
  10. Sprinkle powder sugar on top of the pumpkin pie cinnamon roll treat
  11. Devour

Well, there you have it! A last gasp of Fall and a tasty treat that will make you a hero among the family unit. You can’t miss with these babies. Enjoy!

Tasty Tuesday: Mint Chocolate Smothered Oreos

Who doesn’t love a tasty chocolatey treat? Very few, somewhat misguided souls. Other than that, it’s something that’s pretty high up on most people’s list of awesome. For this fine, fall Tasty Tuesday, how about a little twist on a classic we all know very well. The Oreo. But this is not just an Oreo, this is a super duper tricked out Oreo-based treat. It takes Oreo to a new level of dope, bringing some additional bite and richness to the table. These are Mint Chocolate Smothered Oreos, baby! Oh yeah, you heard that right, brother. It’s simple, it’s quick, and it’s very tasty.

What You Will Need:

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • Oreo Cookies
  • 3 drops green food coloring
  • Crushed spearmint candies

What You Will Do:

  1. Melt chocolate according to directions.
  2. Stir in food coloring.
  3. Dip cookie in chocolate and coat with crushed spearmint candies.
  4. Place on waxed paper and let set for 20 minutes.
  5. Devour like it’s your last meal.

Tasty Tuesday: Samoa Rice Krispie Treat Goodocity

Ok. It’s Tasty Tuesday. That means it’s time to think about some new and creative ways to get your grub on and to stuff your face. Food is the way to a man’s human’s heart, so get to cooking. Don’t be lazy, just get in there and do it. If it doesn’t turn out so great, who cares. It’s all about learning and getting better. Make what you like, make what you think would be cool, make what you think your kids or significant other would like, too. Why not make the world a better place by dropping some tasty vittles on it?

Did someone say dessert?

You bet no one did, but I am right now. It’s all about dessert and those good feelings you get from it. One of my all-time favorites have to be Rice Krispie treats. Man, these are awesome. I’ve loved these since I was little and my mom would make them for me. It was dope then and it’s dope now. In fact, check out these Samoa Rice Krispies and let me know if they are even more dope than they were when you were a kid. I mean…c’mon…

Samoas Rice Krispies Ingredients

NOTE: This recipe is for a 9×9 pan and will yield 9-12 bars (depending on how large you slice them)

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • Two 10 oz. bags of mini marshmallows
  • 10 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (optional, but recommeded)
  • 1 T solid shortening
  • 1 cup Wilton dark cocoa chocolate melts
  • 1/2 cup shredded sweet coconut – toasted
  • 8 oz. Wilton caramel apple dip

If you’re not a coconut person, I get that…just remove that part. It would still be AWESOME.

DIRECTIONS

  1. Spray a 9 x 9 pan with vegetable spray and set aside
  2. In a large sauce pan, melt the butter over low heat
  3. Add the marshmallows to the melted butter, stirring constantly
  4. Once the marshmallows are melted, remove from heat and stir in the cereal and salt(optional) until well-coated
  5. Transfer the cereal mixture to the prepared pan and press down firmly and evenly
  6. Allow the Rice Krispies to cool in the pan completely
  7. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper
  8. Cut the Rice Krispies into 9 to 12 squares and place on the cookie sheet
  9. In a double boiler, melt the solid shortening
  10. Add the chocolate melts and stir occasionally, until melted
  11. Pour the melted chocolate into a microwave safe bowl that will make it easier to dip the bars.
  12. Dip each Rice Krispies bar half way into the melted chocolate, covering the bottom of each bar
  13. Place on wax-covered covered cookie sheet (bottom side up) and chill for 10 minutes to allow chocolate to “set”
  14. Set aside remaining melted chocolate for later.
  15. Toast the coconut in the oven or on the stovetop
    • I just toasted mine on the stove top in a frying pan over medium heat until it browned- takes about 5 minutes
  16. Flip the bars over and press the toasted coconut into the top of the bars. Set aside any remaining coconut
  17. Microwave the caramel dip according to package instructions
  18. Using a spoon, generously drizzle the caramel sauce on top of each Rice Krispies bar
  19. Reheat the remaining chocolate by microwaving in 10 second intervals until completely melted
  20. Drizzle the chocolate on top of each Rice Krispies bar
  21. Garnish with remaining coconut
  22. Let “set” for 30 minutes
  23. Stuff our face. Be on the lookout for your kids trying to steal your booty. ;o)
