Uncommon Goods is the Spot for the Artisanal, the Sustainable, the Unique

The uncommon gift or purchase. In today’s increasingly homogenous world, this seems to be an increasingly unique and difficult task to achieve. There’s so much copycat and sameness out there, it kind of numbs the mind. Everything seems so similar, it’s almost like “what’s the point?” I am always on the search for something cool, something handmade, something smart, something uncommon. Thankfully, with the advent of the internet, there are some intrepid innovators out there with the understanding and foresight to look for more and seek out the different!

Uncommon Goods founder Dave Bolotsky had a vision to create something that had never existed before—an online marketplace to connect makers and their creations with individuals looking for truly special goods, regardless of the physical distance between the maker and the shopper. Dave turned this idea into UncommonGoods. He continued traveling to craft fairs and trade shows, meeting artists and finding stand-out merchandise, while running the business out of his home on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, eventually settling in their current location in Brooklyn, NY.

Bonus, the company is a big supporter of the local artist community as well as sustainability. It’s really a great story.

With Christmas coming up very soon, I’ve been talking about shopping early. I found an awesome set of gifts that I can drop on my wife as a hint, if you know what I mean. The site’s Christmas Gifts For Men has so much awesome, it’s crazy. Seriously, I couldn’t even wait to drop some hints. I dropped some gifts on myself instead, because, well, I’m worth it. I dove into the site and found some really cool gear. P picked up a couple of really dope goodies, including:

  1. Fields & Forests Men’s Grooming Set ($50):  This set is awesome. This line of masculine grooming products rock that clean, outdoor inspired essence. Vetiver, bergamot, and cedar notes reminiscent of fresh grass, evergreen, and a hint of citrus give each component in this grooming set a crisp, unprocessed, and subtle fragrance. Handcrafted in small batches in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. Feel like a man with some handmade, small town dope.
  2. West Coast Style IPA Beer Brewing Kit ($45): I love craft beer and am really into how it all comes together. I know a bit, but have never tried my hand at it…until now. This IPA brewing kit contains everything you’ll need to turn your kitchen into a craft brewery: 100% malt extract, specialty grains, high quality yeast, and, of course, aromatic Summit and Cascade hops sourced from Washington state’s Yakima Valley. Bucket list, baby.
  3. Chillsner ($15.95): This is, um, really cool. Sometimes you have warm beer, but you really want to drink said beer. Sometimes, you need this. Simply store this set of chillers in your freezer for at least 90 minutes, then when you’re ready to have a drink, take a swing and insert one into your bottle. Cold beer, no wait, no ice…no way. Clearly one of those “why didn’t I think of that” situations.

This is only a drop in the bucket filled with awesome! There’s just so much great, unique stuff here, it’s pretty amazing. It’s an impressive compilation, really. I’m into it big time.

So, drop a hint to your wife that Uncommon Goods it rocking the absolute best Gifts For Husband and that maybe she would be well-served to look into it? I think it makes sense, a win-win for all parties involved, no? Let here know that while she’s there, she can check out the Gifts For Boys, too. Make it seem like you’re helping the family out.

To find out more, check out uncommongoods.com. I think you’ll be happy.
