When You’re Ready To Have A Ton Of Fun On Game Night Sans Kids

Do you love boardgames? My family and I love them. So do our friends. We love having game night with just the adults every few months. It’s a really good time, it’s something a little different, and it’s a really great way to not only have some fun but to really bond with the people you are playing the games with. It’s a great “team building” kind of thing, you know? People’s personalities come out, stories get shared, all the while – silliness is ok. Who doesn’t love a little competition and a lot of laughs? Plus, it’s always nice to be able to be and act like an adult once in a while, right?

I came across an awesome new, adult-only, game that would be perfect for all of you out there when it’s time to get into some playtime sans kiddos. It’s actually MADE for couples to play it. In Codenames, two teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their agents first. Two rival spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents. Their teammates know the agents only by their CODENAMES. Spymasters give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. Their teammates try to guess words of the right color while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team. And everyone wants to avoid the assassin.

Codenames: Deep Undercover is an adults-only, mature version of Codenames using the same popular game mechanics, but introduces all-new words, packaging, “by-standers” and art. A new twist is added with the inclusion of blank cards, allowing players to introduce their own words to the game. The game play remains the same, where each team has a spymaster looking at a key card, gives their team a one-word clue and a number to locate their team’s words.

Codenames (the original game) has been a smash hit since its release, it was most recently nominated for the prestigious Spiel des Jahres and the won the Origins Awards for Game of the Year, Best Family Game and Fan Favorite. This version combines the original gameplay with an adult theme making it perfect for bachelor/bachelorette parties, guys nights in, or game night at the local bar or your house! Codenames: Deep Undercover is available exclusively in North America at Target and Target.com.

How could I have never heard of this before. It sounds like a lot of fun! I’m all about the adult games. Cards Against Humanity is one of my favorites, and this sounds like it’s right in that vein.

This is a pretty clever concept for a game! I think trying to communicate and give your teammate clues sounds fun.

It feels as if I don’t play enough board games because I am not familiar with this one. I like that it’s a game that you can enjoy with friends. Game nights are always a great stress reliever!

I would love to try this game with friends! I think it’s awesome that board games are still popular these days despite the gadgets dominating the gaming/entertainment scene.

I never heard of this game before. I will have to check this out. We will have a family get together on the 4th of July and my sister and her family will be staying the night with us. I think this would be a good game to play after the kids have gone to bed.

This would be a cool activity for the weekends when there is nothing to watch on TV. I will have to look into this. My kids are all grown ups now so maybe we can all play this together. Finally, a break from Snakes and Ladders. Haha.
