10 Reasons Your Family Should Get a Motorhome

Motorhomes, caravans, and campers have had a bit of a resurgence over the last few years. Perhaps because budget constraints and political worries have meant fewer of us have been growing abroad. Or, it could be that our busier, ever connected lives mean we’ve all got an urge to head off into the wilderness whenever we can. Here are ten reasons your family should get your own motorhome or caravan.

They Are Cool

When we were kids, it was cool to tell your buddies all about your trip abroad. You didn’t want to be seen dead in a caravan with your family. That’s not the case anymore since people realize just how cool motorhomes have. A big reason is that the staycation has grown in popularity.

As much as you would think they are all the same, there’s a massive range of accessories for your Motorhome out there. You could change the décor to add some dope bling or some super trendy decorations. There really is no limit to what you can do with your motorhome nowadays.

You Can Get Up and Go Whenever

One of the key draws of owning your own Motorhome is that you can get up and go whenever you want to. The convenience and freedom of the thing is pretty awesome if you think about it. It’s what makes it special. Keep it packed up with the essentials, then pile everyone in on a Friday afternoon after school and head off to a campsite or a fun weekend away. Your vacations will no longer need to be planned for months in advance. You can add a little spontaneity to your life with a motorhome plus you can come and go as you please. No need to worry about tickets, times, and checkouts. Awesome.

You’ll Save Money

While buying a motorhome isn’t going to be cheap, if you compare it to the money you would spend on vacations over the years you’ll find you will make massive savings. And, you won’t just go away once a year. You’ll get much more holiday time for your money. In the long run, you are going to save a good amount of money.

You’ll Get Back to Nature

Nature is something that’s hugely lacking from modern lives. We’re so busy that we spend our days commuting, quickly doing school runs, working and looking after the home. At the weekends, our kids sit for hours on their tablets and devices, barely getting outdoors at all and it can be hard to motivate them to do anything. We almost forget the beauty and importance of the great outdoors. It’s just so important. The moon, the skies, mountains, grass, farms…I love it all, but don’t get nearly enough of it.

Going away in a motorhome can really get you back to nature. You can finally spend some quality time with the kids away from screens and get back in touch with nature. It’s just a beautiful way of putting your problems and worries into perspective and helping you feel calmer and less stressed out. Plus it’s what we are really meant to do as humans, right?

It’s a Great Big Adventure

Young children especially can see going away on a motorhome vacation as a great big adventure. They will love it. Show them how to cook on a campfire and spend time looking for different wildlife in the great outdoors. Remind them that you don’t need an expensive device or toy to have a great time. The simple things in life are still the best things.

You’ll Learn a Lot

You’ll all learn a lot more on a motorhome vacation than you would on a package holiday abroad. Spend time exploring, researching and visiting local historical sites. Learn about nature, wildlife, geography, and history. You could even start a project for your kids to show off at school afterward.

It’s Social

Some days it seems like a lot of us barely say hello to our neighbors nowadays, never mind speaking to strangers on vacation. But when you are macking the mobile home, it’s different. People make friends, share food, tell stories and generally enjoy each other’s company. It’s old school through and through…and that’s not a bad thing at all.

You Can Follow the Weather

If you choose to go on a long trip in your motorhome, you could spend the time following the weather instead of being tied to one destination no matter what. If you have a bad weather day, hop in and drive somewhere else. You could spend weeks following the sun, never losing a day to poor weather conditions. You can have much more control of actually making sure you are enjoying your trip instead of being a prisoner of things out of your control.

You Can Take Your Home Comforts

Staying in a hotel can be fun. But, it can also be hard work. Especially when you’ve got young kids who depend on their routine and comforts. Going away in a motorhome means that you have the option to take your home comforts and luxury with you. You really can have a home away from home.

The Journey

Long journeys can be horrible, can’t they? You waste a day of your precious vacation time traveling, then another one recovering from the trip. Not if you go in a motorhome. The journey is an enjoyable and comfortable part of your break.

A motorhome really could be a fantastic investment for your family. As crazy as it may seem at first, it’s really something to consider…all things considered.

My husband and I have talked about renting an RV and doing a cross country trip someday. It would be a wicked fun way to see the sights.

There was a period of time, about six months ago when my family and I were seriously considering selling all of our possessions and going tiny to live like this. For many reasons, it didn’t work out. We’ve kind of followed God’s calling on this and realized it wasn’t the right time for our family. I do believe that unless things change over the next 20 years that we’ll sell our current home, go tiny and live a much smaller more mobile life once our kids are big and living on their own. There are many reasons to do this!

I love using an RV. Being able to just set up shop in the woods is so nice.

My hubby has been saying he wants to get a motorhome. He wants to drive across Canada for the summer. That would be so epic!
