I came across this website, Fun Brain, and wanted to share. There are a TON of online game/entertainment sites for kids, with many of them being pretty good actually. The creators say the site is for kids ages preschool through grade 8. We really try to push them to play games rather than watch TV if they’re not reading, drawing, or playing with toys.
Fun Brain has all different games, but they all seem to be pretty fun. There are games such as math baseball, mad libs junior (for reading), and might guy (a “detective” game). There’s over 100 in all. They seem to be fun to play, yet educational, too. That’s never a bad combination. Plus, kids can read a variety of popular books and comics on the site, including Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Amelia Writes Again, and Brewster Rocket.
After reading a bit further, it seems that people have taken note of this site. “FamilyFun magazine in its September 2010 issue as one of the top ten websites for kids.”
So, it you’re looking for something new and a little different for you and the kids to play, maybe you could give FunBrain.com a try. In today’s world on constant stimulation and so many options, I think this is definitely something to put in the “portfolio.”
Let me know how you, and your kids, like it!

My 6 year old son wants to play on the computer and I don’t want him playing gory shooter types games (the ones I like to play after he has gone to bed) but all the educational games are massively boring.
Any suggestions out there for fun games about reading and math?
