Unique Intermittent Fasting Schema

I have been intermittent fasting for a while now, and I think it’s great. There are just so many benefits to eating and living life like this. In fact, not only does intermittent fasting help with weight management, it really helps your  body in so many other ways.

Forget Breakfast

For example, according to Always Eat After 7PM,  “Those who ate breakfast ended up eating about 260 calories more a day, the review found. Those who skipped breakfast were about one pound lighter than those who ate breakfast. These findings led the researchers to conclude that eating breakfast isn’t necessarily a good strategy for losing weight. The science isn’t really there. Breakfast could very well be the least important meal of the day.”

Here’s some more important points  from the book: “Going without breakfast is part of intermittent fasting (IF), also called time-restricted feeding (TRF). IF is a pattern of food consumption that cycles between fasting and eating in specific time periods. There are various ways to do it; one of the most common is the 16/8 protocol, which involves 16 hours of fasting—typically done overnight—with an 8-hour window in which to eat each day.”

So…maybe breakfast isn’t always the most important meal of that day.

Get Your Hormones Right

There are also some amazing, holistic benefits to intermittent fasting. The book points out that “Intermittent fasting really shines when it comes to improving the hormones that directly affect your hunger, blood sugar, and metabolism. One is insulin. IF combats insulin resistance, meaning that it helps your body use insulin more normally, thereby lowering your diabetes risk and boosting your metabolism.”

To take this concept even future, the book states that “Your brain will release the neurotransmitters and hormones that will help you regulate your hormones and burn more stored fat each day. You don’t have to be burdened with trying to eat every few hours. With intermittent fasting, dieting becomes much easier to adhere to and the benefits are remarkable.”

That’s pretty amazing stuff, isn’t it? The best part…you really get used to not eating breakfast right when you wake up. It’s not really that hard…especially when you have your friend…water

Drink Water

I think most of us know the importance of drinking water and staying hydrated. But there are some benefits that maybe you aren’t even aware of! Always Eat After 7PM tells us that “Water helps digest your food, expel wastes, regulate your temperature, protect your tissues, cushion your joints, and protect your spinal column, among many other vital functions. It is through water that hormones flow to the proper organs, that nutrients reach all cells, and that toxins are diluted and removed from the body.”

One great practice in the book is drinking lemon water. “One of the simplest 3-Minute Fat-Burning Morning Rituals, lemon water is a glass of water mixed with the juice of one half of a lemon. This drink provides all the benefits of regular drinking water, which supports weight loss, digestive health, physical performance, and cognitive function.”

Order the Book Now

Go back and check out my previous posts about the book, snacking, and eating carbs! I think if you read all four of them you will have a pretty good understanding of the goals of the book. I think you will also get a pretty good feel of how different it really is from most other diet regimens out there. It’s a fantastic book that I really think you will love.

I felt like following the plan was easy enough, given the level of information and recipes in the book. I assume it helped that I was already accustomed to intermittent fasting, yes. But this book would have helped me back when I first started to practice it. This is a great book to stick with and going forward I think this is really something I will be able to stick with. It really tackles a lot of the shortcomings of most plans in a very easy to understand way.

Very interesting. I was always told to eat early because it is not healthy to eat closer to bedtime. I am doing low carb and I looked into fasting. I need to definitely check this out. I am up for anything to be healthy and weight loss.

I’ve always thought breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Recently I started fasting until lunch time and I was surprised with how much I don’t actually need that morning meal.
