Spend Less Time Trying To Look and Feel Good With This Comprehensive Guide

It’s 2017, and that means that it isn’t just women who want to look good. Men are spending more and more time on their grooming routines, according to studies. However, one thing that men struggle with is the extra time it’s taking them to get ready before they leave the house – why can’t they just get dressed and go, like the good old days?

This comprehensive guide is going to help men who want to look good without spending a lot of time on their appearance. By taking care of themselves from the inside out and being smart, men can make sure they look good 24/7. Read on to find out how you can achieve this!

Develop A Good Skincare Routine

First thing’s first: you must develop a good skincare routine if you’re going to spend less time on looking good. Great skin will give you a healthier complexion with less imperfections, which will help you to look great in person and in pictures. As a rule, if you look good in a magnifying mirror, you’ll look good in real life. But what should a man’s skincare routine look like? It doesn’t have to be excessive as some women seem to make it, but you should definitely take the cleansing and moisturising side of things seriously. Make sure you pay attention to your individual skin type, and use products especially developed for that type as well as men’s skin. Women’s and men’s skin are very different entities, so simply using your partner’s products will not do!

In an ideal world, you’ll cleanse, tone, and moisturise. Doing this once a day minimum, twice a day if possible. Washing the day’s dirt off the skin, rebalancing with a toner, and then keeping things moisturised will help give you a healthier, clearer complexion. You can take it as far as you want to go of course, perhaps by using eye creams, serums, masks for men, and even taking salon visits. You’ll automatically look better when you spend an extra few minutes on your skin in the morning and in the evening! Here’s a quick way to get into skincare if you’ve never paid attention to it before:

  • Purchase a cleanser and moisturiser that’s suitable for men/your skin type.
  • Get used to using these in the evening.
  • Work up to using them both morning and evening.
  • Introduce a toner.
  • After a while, consider introducing other products, if you feel your skin could use more help e.g. face masks.

Set a reminder on your phone if you think you’ll forget. After a few weeks, you should get into the habit!

Create Your Own Capsule Wardrobe

Now, onto getting dressed. The way a man dresses can say a whole lot about him. If choosing your outfit in the morning takes too much time, or you’d simply like to take a more minimal approach to the things you wear, creating a capsule wardrobe could be the way to go. This is a great way to cut back on your clothes, but create better outfit choices all round. Here’s what you’ll have to do if you want to try out a capsule wardrobe for yourself:

  • Take a look at your current wardrobe and assess what you do and don’t wear.
  • Work out why you don’t wear certain things, and why you do wear others, e.g. the fit, the color, etc.
  • Use the information to figure out the style of clothing you like to wear, and always stick to that when you go shopping.
  • Figure out where the gaps are in your wardrobe – do you need more casual tops? Perhaps you need a reliable pair of jeans? Just make sure you buy because you love the item, and you take into account how long you want it to last, as well as how many items in your wardrobe it can be interchanged with. Sometimes, you have to spend more in the short term to save in the long term.
  • Give away the items you no longer need.
  • Once you have all of the items you need and everything can be interchanged, you simply need to update your wardrobe very occasionally from season to season. If you treat your clothes as investments, ignore trends, and only buy things you love, you should find getting dressed a breeze and that you spend far less on clothes when looking at the bigger picture!

Take Care Of Your Hair

A man’s hair may not get as much attention as a woman’s hair, but taking care of it is still crucial. There’s no point spending a ton on hair styling products if you’re not taking care of your hair without them. Taking care of your hair means using a suitable shampoo and conditioner, and avoiding weighing it down with products. There’s nothing worse than a crunchy, crispy look when it comes to a man’s hair. All isn’t lost if you’re not happy with the state of your hair. You can always look into treatments, such as a hair transplant if you’re losing your hair or you’d like to have a thicker head of hair. It all depends on how important you think this will be to your overall look, and how confident you are with how your hair looks right now. Beards should be taken care of too; failing to cleanse them properly may mean you have all kinds of dirt and debris in there. Using oil on them will keep them moisturised and make them far more manageable.

Eat Right And Exercise

This was huge for me this year and it’s made all the difference in my life. It’s been amazing, truly. Eating right and exercising regularly are going to have a number of positive benefits on your body and overall look. You will shape up and keep any excess belly fat at bay, as well as keep your skin, hair, and nails looking great from the inside out. When you take care of your body like this, then you can spend much less time fretting over your appearance, because you’re taking positive steps to stay looking and feeling good in the long haul. The sooner you start taking care of yourself like this, the better.

Eating right doesn’t mean eating as little as possible. It means making sure you’re getting a good balance of protein, carbs, and fats. It doesn’t matter whether you choose to eat a vegan diet or a more traditional diet; you need to do what works for you and fits in with your own values. Just make sure you have the right balance. Choose foods that are rich in nutrients, that help to satiate you, and that you enjoy eating. There are all kinds of delicious healthy options. You don’t have to rule out the odd treat either, providing you find the right balance. Look up ways to cook some of your favorites the healthy way, such as how to make healthy fries or a healthy pizza. Creating these foods from cleaner ingredients will give your body more nutrients and help you to start enjoying healthy foods, if you don’t already.

For exercise, you can do anything you enjoy. Boxing training, weight lifting, running – anything can be incorporated into your routine. Just bear in mind that resistance training and cardio should be used together to create a healthier body that also has aesthetic appeal. You only have to commit to training around 3 times per week, but try to get active every day, even if you just go for a walk. Sitting at a desk all day is one of the unhealthiest things we can do, and it’ll quickly lead to excess fat and all kinds of other issues. Bear in mind that these health issues will take longer to fix in the long run, especially if you start experiencing problems with your back/posture. If you do work at a desk, make sure you sit up straight. You can even invest in things that help you to do this!

Know The Right And Wrong Way To Whiten Your Teeth

White teeth are something most people notice quickly. But what is the right and wrong way to whiten your teeth? Some people like to use whitening toothpaste, others enjoy whitening strips. Then there are more natural methods, such as charcoal powder or coconut oil. Natural methods are the least harmful to the teeth, so you can try those if you want a quick and easy solution to get your teeth looking their best. Whitening toothpaste is fine for everyday use, but not often enough. If you’re serious about having white teeth, going to see a dental professional and having them whitened is the best way to go about it. Trying to save money by going to somebody cheaper and less qualified could result in permanent damage to your teeth.

When you get into great daily habits and commit to looking after yourself from the inside out, you’ll find you barely have to spend any time looking great at all. You can wake up in the morning and be photo ready with great hair, white teeth, clear skin, and a great physique. It all depends on how badly you want to make a change.
